Life is not unfair, we are just making it unfair.
I was doing my regular routine every morning. I woke up around 5 in the morning, I ate breakfast with my mom and we talked about life. That time I was thinking if finishing my last reflection paper in one of my subject while listening to the news in the radio hosted by Neil Ocampo. For the past few days that I’ve listen to the radio, all I heard was about US has financial crisis, the not-dying news about the corruption in RP government agency, and the crimes all over the nation. Although there are good news also. =D
After eating, I went back to my work and a friend of mine PM me and we talk. I throw him all my angers about my subject professor, it also saddens me. I was thinking that time, “why would he have to do this? bombarded us with TONS of requirement. It’s HELL!!!” but I am still doing it. Why I didn’t think of dropping that subject? The work is really hard, we have to do multitasking just to finish our home works, papers and some not-school related things.
As I was washing our dishes around 9am I had this sudden thought:
Why would my professor bombarded us with those requirements? He does not even think about our situation, we’re in our all major subjects. DUH!!!
Then I suddenly remember what my mom always said. In her days, they have to go to “pulo” and help their father in their farming or their mother in selling goods before going to school. In “pulo“, you can encounter different species and it is location in a mountain. They have to walk kilometers just to go in there. Same with their mother who sells goods in the near barangays. Some of my tita’s are washing their clothes, washing the dishes, cleaning the whole house, and looking out for their store just located outside their house. Even though their house is just parallel to the school their going. They are always late because of the chores they needed to do. They all graduated and finished their studies while helping their parents in their daily living. I remember the words she always said to us “education is the best gift I can only give you, because that is the only thing that can not be taken from you.” They are 11 siblings, all of them finshed college and now they are successful. ^_^
Now, in the modern days. Do children do the same thing as the old children do? There are still children who helps their parents just to earn money to have food to eat. We are just with the lucky few, who was brought up by our parents and give us anything we wanted. Our parents who risk everything, so we wont suffer the same thing they did. Parents who is both working but at the same time cater to what their son and daughter needs. It is unfair, right? That is the only way they show their love to us, and we should appreciate it and not wasting it. They have made a lot of sacrifices since the day we are made. =D
Looking back, my professor is very professional. He has his own business and at the same time he’s teaching. Cool! My point is, I just realize that he was just doing his job as a professor and he wants us to learn from him. He also needs to do his private business, he also do multitasking. He do many things. The difference is he is in the industry and we are just in school. He wants to share his experiences and ideas, he wants us to experience the work that we would encounter after graduation. He was under that pressure way back, he was a student also, he knows what it feels like to be bombarded with TONS of requirements. He was an experienced man. We should accept and appreciate it.
I just thought that he wants us to experience hard life. How life could be hard? For us students, who just have to complete and finish the requirements that is given to us. We are not even working, we are like babies who are spoon-feed by our parents. All we need to do is study, that is our tasks. Some of the students still have “yaya’s” at the age of 18. We are just making our life complicated! When in fact, it’s NOT. We are lucky to go into an instution who makes up experience what is in the outside world.
It’s like when you’re working in the industry, if you want a high pay and you’re dreaming of having a promotion. How can you get a promotion and high pay when you’re slacking off? You really have to work hard to earn that promotion. Life is not just about living, it is about trying our best until it reach its limit. As a student, if we want to earn a degree, we should study and try our very best to pass every requirement, quizzes or whatsoever. Why make it later or tomorrow, when we can actually do it now? We have all the time after school hours. Our professor won’t give us anything when he knows we aren’t capable of doing it. This is our work! We are responsible with our decision and our life. If we think that life is really hard and unfair, then think of other people who can’t even go to a school like us. Children who can’t even study even they want it, children who are slaves by our economy. Think of our parents, their hard work and their dream for us. Think!
Don’t think that life is too complicated and someone is making it complicated. It is us who makes it, not them. Think outside the box. XD
